Ideas for the Classroom
As former teachers, my
husband and I cannot do a project without thinking,
"How could this be of benefit to
students?"
Here are some of our ideas:
" My
son, Nick, gave me a great idea. He told me it
would be a lower level, high interest book for
students that had difficulty reading. It lends
itself to male and female students. It
includes family, relationships, tragedy, culture, war
and forgiveness.
"Research: I personally learned so
much about American History by researching my
uncle and his tour of duty. I also learned a lot
about doing research.
"This book can serve as
an introduction to a unit on World War II.
Websites are included in the back of
the book.
"I think it would be an
interest project for American students to have French
pen pals and share their thoughts on how
the war affected their country. It
is an eye-opener.
"It would also be an
interesting read for a group of students studying the
French Language.
Note to teachers:
If you use our book in your
program, it would be our pleasure to hear
about it and what the results were. Please send
us an email:
